81: Is It Time To Stop Hustling? with Aine Rock

Ready to get out of your comfort zone and go after your goals? Mom, entrepreneur, certified high-performance coach, and host of the Rock Your Joy podcast, Aine Rock joins us on The Bold Life today to give us the inside scoop on how to get comfortable being uncomfortable.

With two decades of experience, Aine’s specialty is finding the sweet spot between hustle and flow. She helps clients transform their lives with mindfulness, mindset, and no BS strategies for getting the most out of life.

Aine uses her years of experience in yoga and mindfulness, as well as her adventurous spirit, to guide female entrepreneurs out of overwhelm and help them learn to embody joy!

A little bit more about Aine

Aine started out in theatre school in New York, then began to study yoga. In a post 9/11 New York City, yoga was the grounding practice Aine needed.

Aine then moved to Chicago and worked for a network marketing company for 14 years while she started her family.

A couple years ago, Aine started to have the itch of “what’s next?’.

In self reflecting on her own journey, she realized she had always been drawn to the energy of hustle, and she wanted to help women find a balance between the masculine and feminine energies when it comes to work.

Aine’s goal = Helping women realize their most authentic and joyful life.

What Do Feminine And Masculine Energies Mean???

In finding the sweet spot between hustle and flow, it’s important to know the difference between masculine and feminine energies.

Aine explains hustle is more masculine energy, whereas soulful work and flow is more feminine energy. The balance between strength and softness.

The feminine energy embodies slowing down, connecting, and feeling. The masculine energy, however, is more intellectual and goal driven. Integrating the two spaces is where Aine says you can be the most powerful.

Another important factor is rest! It’s not lazy, it’s not unimportant, and it can be just as wonderful as the days when you’re out in the world.

But what about the difference between rest and procrastination? Aine says the answer lies within testing yourself to find your balance!

Resting doesn’t have to mean taking the day off and doing nothing all day. It can be as simple as taking a walk or sitting in the yard for a few minutes so you can come back rested and ready to approach a task with different energy.

The Mind-Body Connection and Productivity

Becoming a slave to your to-do list isn’t the fast track to productivity!

As Aine points out, a to-do list can put you in a cycle of “never enough”. Telling yourself: “when I ___ then I will be ___”. If you can instead be happy in the moment you’ll be more motivated to check things on your list … rather than feeling like you’re not good enough!

Having a ritual and routine is also essential.

So is paying attention to your energy throughout the day.

Checking in and noticing the different emotions you feel during the day will help you pay attention to what’s happening in your mind and body and give you the space to reflect and reset.

We spend so much time reacting to other people’s energies. Aine recommends carving out time in the morning before checking emails, before kids need something from mom, before the world really starts spinning for the day… Check in with yourself first and give yourself the time to journal, meditate, and set yourself up for success for the day.

Getting Out of the Comfort Zone and Embracing Change

Aine recently moved with her family from Chicago to California.

This move was always something she dreamed of doing, but change is scary. In trusting in her intuition Aine was able to push past the fear of the unknown, and take a leap of faith.

Aine also talks about the growth that has come from this change. Not only for her, but for her kids too!

Pro tip – If you’re not sure whether you should take a leap in your career or other area of your life, look to others as examples. There are seven billion people on the planet… surely someone has taken a similar risk before (and succeeded!). And that can provide reassurance that you’re on the right track.

We live approximately 4000 weeks. That’s not long! Aine says instead of anticipating the destination, be grateful for where you are, right now, in this moment.
